How much bourbon would you like? A glass?

Blog 8

After a busy day checking rooms and things with the locals (and accomplishing amazingly little) in Wuhan, where we arrived last night, we spent an enjoyable evening at a Japanese restaurant eating delicious food. Not at all greasy. On the way back to the hotel, we stopped at a small bar. I felt like a quick bourbon before bed and so asked for one, the only trouble being that the kids behind the bar weren't sure about measures and poured a whole tumbler full for me. Not wishing to spurn their generosity, I had two. Really not bad at 15 RMB (one pound) for a full tumbler. Quite ready for bed now, though. Up early in the morning for some ceremony business with the local Education Bureau, the press and a flag or two. Can hardly wait.

The picture shows the variety of people it took to agree that the desks should be in a line. Important decisions like this are certainly worth taking 40 minutes over, wouldn't you say?
